Job Description
The Social Work Supervisor will oversee and support the delivery of social work services aimed at the care, support, protection and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communities. The position involves supervising and developing social workers and social auxiliary workers, managing programmes, ensuring compliance with professional standards and providing psychosocial support and counselling services.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that social work services are provided to vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communities through relevant programmes.
- Ensure compliance with prescribed social work norms and standards.
- Ensure that social workers comply with the requirements of the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Supervise, mentor, coach and advise social workers and social auxiliary workers.
- Provide supervision and support to social work students.
- Coordinate and manage relevant social work programmes, including the transformation of social welfare services.
- Manage the relevant sub-unit.
- Provide psychosocial support to clients.
- Render counselling services to clients.
- Monitor and evaluate non-profit organisations.
- Provide administrative, educational and supportive functions.
- Monitor service delivery and support effective programme implementation.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
- Appropriate Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work recognised by SAQA.
- Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker.
- Minimum of 7 years’ appropriate experience in Social Work after registration with SACSSP.
- Valid motor vehicle driver’s licence.
