Job Description
The Community Development Practitioner will identify, facilitate and support the implementation of integrated community development programmes in partnership with communities and relevant stakeholders. The role focuses on promoting community participation, sustainable development, collaboration and self-empowerment.
Responsibilities
- Identify and facilitate the implementation of integrated community development interventions.
- Work in partnership with communities and relevant stakeholders to address development needs.
- Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Government departments and provinces.
- Non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
- Local community structures.
- Faith-based organisations.
- Facilitate collaboration and establish partnerships to promote sustainable development activities within communities.
- Support communities in implementing community development initiatives.
- Provide administrative support for community development and related activities.
- Keep up to date with new developments in the community development field.
- Apply new developments and knowledge to enhance service delivery.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
- Appropriate three-year tertiary degree (NQF Level 7) recognised by SAQA in:
- Community Development;
- Bachelor of Social Science (Human and Societal Dynamics); or
- An equivalent qualification.
- Exposure to a community development environment will be an advantage.
- Exposure to relevant legislation that assists with interventions where people interact with their environments to promote self-empowerment.
- Ability to conduct research relating to community development work.
- Ability to facilitate, identify, plan and implement various community development programmes and interventions.
