Job Description
The Social Work Manager will provide highly advanced and specialised social work services focused on the care, support, protection and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communities. The role also involves managing a social work unit, developing programmes and interventions, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring the effective utilisation of human and financial resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide the highest, most advanced and specialised social work services within a defined area or area of specialisation.
- Provide care, support, protection and development services to vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communities through relevant programmes.
- Work in partnership with relevant stakeholders to address social challenges.
- Attend to matters that could result in or stem from social instability in any form.
- Facilitate the development and planning of social work programmes and interventions.
- Ensure the efficient, economical and effective utilisation of financial resources.
- Manage a social work unit to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective social work services.
- Ensure effective utilisation and management of human resources within the unit.
- Work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Keep up to date with new developments in the social work and management fields.
- Ensure that all administrative responsibilities associated with the unit are effectively managed.
- Support strategic planning, policy analysis and development within the relevant social work environment.
- Apply effective problem-solving, planning, organising and change-management practices.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
- Appropriate Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work recognised by SAQA.
- Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker.
- Minimum of 10 years’ appropriate/recognisable experience in Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with SACSSP.
- Valid motor vehicle driver’s licence.
