    The University of the Free State (UFS), School of Nursing, invites applications for a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Nursing. This is a critical academic leadership role focusing on postgraduate teaching, research, student supervision, and curriculum development.     Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement postgraduate teaching and research strategies.

    • Teach and supervise postgraduate students in nursing.

    • Increase postgraduate throughput and publish in accredited journals.

    • Coordinate and teach modules in a specialised nursing field.

    • Provide clinical and skills supervision for students.

    • Recruit and mentor postgraduate students.

    • Participate in community engagement activities.

    • Undertake administrative and organizational duties.

    • Maintain an active and recognised scholarly profile.

    Qualifications:

    Senior Lecturer:

    • PhD in Nursing (NQF Level 10).

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (General, Community, Psychiatry) and Midwife.

    • Additional qualification in Nursing Education.

    • Proven experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

    • National recognition for research expertise.

    • Experience supervising master’s graduates.

    • Track record of accredited publications.

    • Active involvement in national scholarly societies or committees.

    Associate Professor:

    • PhD in Nursing (NQF Level 10).

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (General, Community, Psychiatry) and Midwife.

    • Additional qualification in Nursing Education.

    • Proven experience in external examining and supervision of master’s and doctoral students.

    • National recognition for research leadership and expertise.

    • Experience as a member of scholarly societies or editorial boards.

    • Track record of peer-reviewed conference presentations and accredited journal publications.

    Preferred:

    • Additional qualification in a nursing specialisation.

    • Experience in research grant writing.

    • NRF rating.

    Competencies:

    • Skilled in team leadership and collaboration.

    • Excellent interpersonal, consultation, and influencing skills.
