Job Title: Senior State Advocate (2 Posts)

Responsibilities:
Prosecute serious, complex, and organised crime and corruption cases.
Advise law enforcement on investigations of complex organised crime matters.
Draft charge sheets, heads of argument, and represent the State in various courts.
Lead witnesses, conduct cross-examinations, and address the court on conviction and sentencing.
Handle motion proceedings, appeals, and reviews.
Conduct thorough legal research and stay updated with legal developments.
Guide criminal investigations and provide legal instructions on statutory offences.
Oversee performance and development of junior legal staff.
Qualifications:
LLB Degree (or equivalent legal qualification for serving prosecutors).
At least 8 years of post-qualification legal experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
Admission as an advocate or attorney (advantageous).
Right of appearance in terms of section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
Skills:
High proficiency in prosecuting and court presentation.
Legal research and drafting expertise.
Strong verbal and written communication.
Solid understanding of criminal and civil procedures.
Knowledge of asset forfeiture law.
Interpersonal and independent decision-making skills.
Advanced computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to work under pressure, travel, and work extended hours as needed.
