Job Purpose
The Chief Artisan Grade A is responsible for managing and coordinating technical services and artisan operations, including workshop, field, and technical office functions. The role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality technical service delivery, while also managing teams, budgets, compliance, and performance within the engineering/technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Operations Management
- Manage technical services and support across field, workshop, and office environments.
- Coordinate work between artisans, technicians, and support staff.
- Oversee technical production and maintenance activities.
- Ensure efficient execution of technical projects and operations.
Safety & Compliance Management
- Promote and enforce workplace safety in line with statutory regulations.
- Ensure compliance with legal and technical standards.
- Apply occupational health and safety requirements in all operations.
Technical Quality Assurance
- Ensure work meets required technical specifications and standards.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on completed work.
- Implement improvements based on technical evaluations.
Technical Planning & Reporting
- Contribute to operational and technical planning.
- Compile and submit technical reports.
- Provide input into technical manuals, drawings, and procedures.
- Maintain and update technical databases.
Human Resource Management
- Supervise and manage artisans and technical staff.
- Oversee performance management processes.
- Ensure effective team coordination and productivity.
Financial & Asset Management
- Provide input into budgeting processes.
- Manage allocated resources, including tools, equipment, and assets.
- Ensure cost-effective use of materials and resources.
Problem Solving & Technical Analysis
- Conduct technical analysis and troubleshooting.
- Apply engineering solutions to operational challenges.
- Support decision-making through technical expertise.
Stakeholder & Customer Focus
- Ensure service delivery meets client expectations.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical advice and consultation when required.
Minimum Requirements
- Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) under the Manpower Training Act
- Minimum 10 years post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman
- Valid driver’s licence
