Job Overview
AVBOB is seeking a skilled and experienced Foreman: Metal Coffins to join its Manufacturing Division in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will oversee the production and repair of metal coffins and manufacturing equipment while ensuring production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational efficiency are consistently achieved.
This leadership role involves supervising manufacturing staff, coordinating production schedules, managing raw materials and equipment, and ensuring compliance with company policies and health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Oversee the production and repair of metal coffins and manufacturing equipment.
- Plan and schedule daily production according to inventory levels and customer orders.
- Reconcile production schedules on a weekly basis.
- Ensure labour, machinery, equipment, and materials are effectively planned and utilised.
- Coordinate the production of prototype metal products with the Technical and Product Development team and Operations Manager.
- Coordinate equipment repairs and monitor completion schedules.
Quality Control
- Establish production quality standards in collaboration with the Quality Department.
- Monitor production processes to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
- Ensure raw materials and work-in-progress stock are stored correctly and accurately accounted for during stock takes.
Staff Supervision
- Supervise the manufacturing workforce and oversee daily operations.
- Ensure staff comply with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor employee attendance and timekeeping.
- Address disciplinary matters where necessary.
- Coordinate training for new employees and ongoing development of existing staff.
Inventory & Procurement
- Order raw materials from stores and external suppliers to meet production demands.
- Account for all raw materials received and consumed during monthly stock counts.
- Prepare quotations for ad-hoc repairs and special production requests.
Reporting
- Compile daily and weekly production reports and statistics.
- Report production performance to the Operations Manager.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Represent management on the Safety Committee.
- Ensure employees are issued with and correctly use the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Promote compliance with AVBOB’s Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and compliant manufacturing environment.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Qualified Artisan certification.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a Foreman or supervisory role.
