Job Description
The appointed contractor will be responsible for the complete delivery of the project, including:
- Assessing existing structures.
- Demolishing existing housing units at Hawequa and Obiqua Correctional Centres.
- Designing and constructing new prefabricated housing units.
- Managing all construction activities from design stage through to completion.
- Ensuring compliance with building regulations, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Handing over completed facilities ready for occupation.
The project follows a turnkey approach, meaning the contractor must provide a complete solution, including design, materials, labour, construction, and final commissioning.
Main Responsibilities
1. Project Design and Planning
The contractor must:
- Develop detailed designs for prefabricated housing units.
- Prepare construction drawings and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with:
- Building regulations.
- Engineering requirements.
- Occupational health and safety requirements.
- Client specifications.
- Conduct site assessments before construction.
2. Demolition Works
Responsibilities include:
- Safely demolish existing units.
- Plan demolition activities to minimise disruption to correctional centre operations.
- Remove and dispose of demolished materials responsibly.
- Maintain site safety during demolition.
- Comply with environmental and waste management requirements.
3. Prefabricated Housing Construction
The contractor must:
- Supply and install new prefabricated housing units.
- Manage foundations, structural works, installation, and finishing.
- Ensure units meet required quality standards.
- Complete all associated works, including:
- Electrical installations.
- Plumbing works.
- Fixtures and fittings.
- Internal and external finishes (where specified).
- Site preparation.
4. Construction Project Management
The contractor will be responsible for:
- Preparing a project programme and construction schedule.
- Managing labour, materials, and subcontractors.

5. Quality Control
