     Job Description

    The Credit Analyst is responsible for assessing credit risk, analysing financial data, and supporting lending decisions within the bank.

    The role focuses on risk-adjusted pricing, credit ratings, and financial analysis, particularly within the agricultural sector, ensuring compliance with Basel requirements and internal risk models.

     Key Responsibilities

     Credit Analysis & Risk Assessment

    • Analyse financial statements and extract key data for credit ratings
    • Assess creditworthiness of current and prospective clients
    • Apply appropriate internal rating models for transactions
    • Support risk-adjusted pricing and Basel compliance

     Reporting & Documentation

    • Prepare Credit Risk Applications (CRA) with supporting documents
    • Summarise model inputs and ensure consistency of information
    • Provide explanations of credit ratings and financial returns

     Stakeholder Engagement

    • Work closely with front office and credit managers
    • Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
    • Facilitate communication between model developers and business units

     Risk & Compliance

    • Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal risk frameworks
    • Liaise with risk departments on credit model inputs
    • Identify risk mitigations and provide recommendations

     Team Support & Development

    • Coach and train junior staff
    • Share industry knowledge and trends
    • Support process improvements and business efficiency initiatives

     Minimum Requirements

    • NQF Level 6 or higher in:
      • Financial Management
      • Accounting
      • Finance / Analysis (or related field)
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in:
      • Credit analysis
      • Business banking
      • Evaluating financial statements and credit reports
    • Agricultural sector experience (essential)
