Job Description
The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting blood and non-blood specimens, maintaining accurate patient records, handling patient payments where required, and ensuring compliance with healthcare and laboratory standards. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, technical competence, and a commitment to delivering excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood and non-blood specimens safely and accurately.
- Ensure proper identification, labelling, and handling of specimens.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Provide compassionate and professional patient care.
- Process patient payments where applicable.
- Follow infection prevention and quality assurance procedures.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies.
- Build positive relationships with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Represent Ampath professionally while delivering excellent customer service.
Minimum Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Phlebotomy or Nursing (Registered Nurse).
- Current registration with the HPCSA as a Phlebotomy Technician, or registration with the SANC as a Registered Nurse.
- Valid South African Code B driver’s licence.
