    Job Description

    The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting blood and non-blood specimens, maintaining accurate patient records, handling patient payments where required, and ensuring compliance with healthcare and laboratory standards. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, technical competence, and a commitment to delivering excellent service.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collect blood and non-blood specimens safely and accurately.
    • Ensure proper identification, labelling, and handling of specimens.
    • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
    • Provide compassionate and professional patient care.
    • Process patient payments where applicable.
    • Follow infection prevention and quality assurance procedures.
    • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies.
    • Build positive relationships with patients and healthcare professionals.
    • Represent Ampath professionally while delivering excellent customer service.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Recognised qualification in Phlebotomy or Nursing (Registered Nurse).
    • Current registration with the HPCSA as a Phlebotomy Technician, or registration with the SANC as a Registered Nurse.
    • Valid South African Code B driver’s licence.

    Working Hours

    • 45 hours per week
