    Job Overview

    The Accounts Payable Assistant will provide administrative support to the relevant Accountant and assist with creditor-related activities.

    The role involves processing financial documentation, maintaining accurate vendor and creditor records, performing reconciliations, handling supplier queries and supporting the finance team with day-to-day administration and reporting.

    The successful candidate should be highly accurate, organised and able to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

    Key Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Handling credit applications accurately and within required timeframes.
    • Drafting, preparing and maintaining creditor-related documentation.
    • Processing and capturing purchase invoices and credit notes.
    • Performing general administrative duties, including reconciliations, filing and archiving.
    • Preparing creditor reconciliations and ensuring account balances are accurate.
    • Attending to and resolving creditor and vendor queries professionally and efficiently.
    • Ensuring applications comply with applicable legislation, regulations and company requirements.
    • Maintaining and regularly updating vendor information in accordance with company policies and procedures.
    • Supporting the Accountant with daily financial administration and reporting.
    • Ensuring financial documentation is organised and maintained in an auditable manner.
    • Contributing to the continuous improvement of financial and administrative processes.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants should have:

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
    • Experience in a financial environment will be advantageous.
    • Intermediate-level computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • The ability to continuously add value to existing job functions and processes.
    • The ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
