Job Overview
ER24 is seeking an Operational Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) to join its Bloemfontein team. The successful candidate will respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate medical care to patients in accordance with their scope of practice, HPCSA guidelines and ER24 standards.
The role requires a qualified Ambulance Emergency Assistant with relevant Emergency Medical Services experience and the ability to operate effectively in an emergency environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring operational readiness for emergency calls.
- Attending to emergency medical calls.
- Providing patient care in line with the applicable scope of practice.
- Applying best-practice principles when providing emergency medical services.
- Completing accurate Patient Report Forms.
- Maintaining a positive public image of ER24.
- Reporting near misses, slips and adverse events.
- Maintaining knowledge of local facilities, travel routes and the surrounding demographic area.
- Complying with HPCSA guidelines, professional standards and scope of practice requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) Certificate – essential.
Experience
- At least 1 year of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience – essential.
- 1 year of Ambulance Emergency Assistant experience – advantageous.
Skills and Knowledge
Applicants should have:
- Knowledge and application of best practices.
- Knowledge of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Patient Report Form knowledge and administration skills.
- Knowledge of local healthcare facilities and emergency travel routes.
- Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively in an emergency medical environment.
