     Job Description

    Orchard Agri (Pty) Ltd is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Equipment Sales Representative to promote and sell agricultural machinery directly to farmers and end-users across multiple regions including Worcester, Free State, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo. This role is ideal for a sales professional with strong technical knowledge of farm equipment and a passion for engaging with clients in the agricultural sector.

     Key Responsibilities

    1. Sales and Customer Engagement

    • Engage directly with farmers and end-users to assess and understand their equipment needs

    • Present and demonstrate farming equipment, clearly explaining features and benefits

    • Offer tailored solutions for individual farming operations

    • Negotiate and close sales deals, meeting or exceeding monthly targets

    2. Lead Generation and Market Development

    • Actively prospect and generate new business by visiting farms, attending events, and leveraging existing leads

    • Follow up on leads from the Spares Counter Sales Rep and Workshop

    • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities

    • Provide relevant service leads to the Spares and Workshop teams

    3. Product Knowledge and Technical Expertise

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all Orchard Agri equipment (tractors, harvesters, sprayers, cultivators, motorcycles, etc.)

    • Stay informed on competitor products and emerging technologies

    • Participate in product training and demonstrations

    4. Customer Support and After-Sales Service

    • Guide clients on operation, maintenance, and servicing of purchased equipment

    • Liaise with workshop teams to ensure proper delivery, setup, and after-sales service

    • Address and resolve customer concerns and warranty issues

    5. Sales Reporting and Administration

    • Maintain accurate records of sales, customer interactions, and feedback

    • Provide regular reports and forecasts to the Sales Manager

    • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth order processing and deliveries

     Minimum Requirements

    • Experience:

      • Minimum of 3 years in agricultural equipment or heavy machinery sales

      • Proven ability to meet/exceed sales targets

    • Education:

      • Matric (Grade 12) required

      • Tertiary qualifications in Sales, Agriculture, or Mechanical Engineering are advantageous

    • Skills:

      • Strong customer engagement and negotiation skills

      • Ability to explain technical equipment to clients

      • Highly self-motivated and goal-driven

      • Excellent communication and presentation skills

    • Industry Knowledge:

      • Understanding of the needs of fruit, nut, grape, berry, and citrus farmers

      • Familiarity with farming operations in the Western Cape and surrounding regions

    • Other Requirements:

      • Valid driver’s license

      • Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites

      • Flexibility for weekend or after-hours work, as needed
