    The Department of Treasury is seeking a highly experienced and qualified individual to serve as Director: Economic Analysis. This strategic role involves leading economic research, producing key provincial economic publications, and supporting policy development through data-driven insights. The position is central to shaping the economic planning framework for the Free State Province.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct and update provincial socio-economic indicator analyses

    • Lead the development of major economic reports such as PERO, MTBPS, QLMR, and MERO

    • Provide economic research and strategic support for policy formulation and planning

    • Maintain and expand databases on provincial economy and social issues

    • Manage staff and resources within the Directorate

    • Disseminate findings and provide guidance on economic modeling tools

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Economics (Postgraduate qualification is an advantage)

    • Minimum 5 years of experience at a middle/senior managerial level

    • At least 6 years of relevant experience in economic research

    • Proficiency in economic modeling and analytical tools: CGE, SAMs, E-views, Stata, SPSS, GAMS/GEMPACK

    • Knowledge of PFMA, MFMA, Public Service Acts, and Treasury Regulations

    • Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

    • Valid driver’s license
