    Project Purpose

    The purpose of this contract is to restore and protect the Vaal Dam Office hall by carrying out corrosion protection, repainting the hall roof, and replacing damaged beams and ceiling components. The project aims to improve the structural integrity, safety, functionality, and lifespan of the facility while ensuring compliance with applicable construction and quality standards.

    Scope of Work

    Site Establishment

    • Mobilise labour, equipment, and construction materials.
    • Establish a safe working area.
    • Implement occupational health and safety measures.
    • Protect existing infrastructure from damage during construction.

    Corrosion Protection

    • Inspect existing roof structures for corrosion and deterioration.
    • Prepare steel surfaces through cleaning and surface preparation.
    • Remove rust, contaminants, and deteriorated coatings.
    • Apply approved anti-corrosion treatment systems.
    • Ensure all corrosion protection complies with project specifications.

    Roof Repainting

    • Prepare roof surfaces for painting.
    • Apply suitable primer where required.
    • Supply and apply approved exterior roof coating systems.
    • Ensure complete coverage and uniform finish.
    • Perform quality inspections before project handover.

    Structural Repairs

    • Remove damaged or deteriorated structural beams.
    • Supply and install replacement beams.
    • Ensure structural components are installed according to engineering and construction standards.
    • Verify structural stability after installation.

    Ceiling Replacement

    • Remove damaged ceiling materials.
    • Supply and install new ceiling components.
    • Repair supporting framework where necessary.
    • Ensure a neat and durable finish.

    Material Supply

    • Supply all materials, equipment, consumables, and accessories required to complete the project.
    • Ensure all materials comply with project specifications and South African quality standards.

    Quality Assurance

    • Perform inspections throughout the project.
    • Correct any defects identified during construction.
    • Ensure workmanship complies with project specifications and industry standards.
    • Conduct final quality inspections before practical completion.

    Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance

    • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations.
    • Maintain a safe working environment.
    • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Dispose of waste materials responsibly.
    • Minimise environmental impact during construction activities.

    Project Administration

    • Coordinate project activities with the Department of Water and Sanitation.
    • Maintain site records and progress reports.
    • Attend project meetings where required.
    • Complete the project within the agreed programme.

    Minimum Contractor Requirements

    • CIDB Contractor Grading: 1GB or higher.
    • Experience in:
      • Building maintenance.
      • Corrosion protection.
      • Roof painting.
      • Structural repairs.
      • Ceiling installation.
    • Ability to supply qualified personnel, tools, equipment, and materials required for the project.

    Required Personnel

    Depending on project size, the contractor may require:

    • Site Supervisor.
    • Safety Officer.
    • Qualified Painters.
    • Steel Fabricators or Structural Workers.
    • Carpenters/Ceiling Installers.
    • General Labourers.
    • Project Manager (where applicable).

    Expected Deliverables

    • Corrosion protection system applied to affected roof structures.
    • Hall roof repainted with an approved coating system.
    • Damaged beams removed and replaced.
    • New ceiling installed to specification.
    • Safe, clean, and compliant worksite upon project completion.
