Main Purpose of the Job
The primary role of the Clinical Technician is to maintain, service, and repair medical equipment used in the hospital. Additionally, the technician will provide technical support to medical professionals, ensuring that all devices function optimally and safely. By doing so, the Clinical Technician contributes significantly to patient care and hospital efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Technician at Mediclinic Bloemfontein, your duties will include:
1. Providing Technical Support
- Offer immediate troubleshooting assistance for malfunctioning medical equipment.
- Provide technical training and support to hospital staff on the proper use of medical devices.
- Ensure that all medical equipment is used correctly and efficiently to enhance patient care.
2. Performing Maintenance and Repairs
- Conduct routine inspections, servicing, and calibration of hospital medical devices.
- Perform necessary repairs and adjustments to maintain equipment functionality.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and hospital policies.
3. Identifying and Controlling Risks
- Assess and mitigate potential risks related to technical equipment.
- Follow infection control guidelines and ensure all devices meet safety standards.
- Implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimize equipment failure.
4. Managing On-Site Contractors
- Supervise external contractors responsible for technical services within the hospital.
- Ensure all contractors follow hospital policies and safety regulations.
- Coordinate equipment installation and upgrades with external vendors.
5. Handling Office Administration in the Technical Department
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed on hospital equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and technical supplies.
- Utilize SAP and generate reports for monitoring equipment performance.
6. Maintaining Stakeholder and Client Relations
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with hospital staff and external service providers.
- Ensure excellent client service within the hospital’s Technical Department.
- Communicate effectively with hospital management and medical teams regarding equipment updates.
Required Education and Experience
Essential Education
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) OR Clinical Engineering.
Desired Education
- Diploma in Clinical Engineering (preferred but not required).
Essential Experience
- 1 year of experiential training within Mediclinic OR
- 1 year of Clinical Engineering experience in the healthcare industry.
Desired Experience
- 3 years of Clinical Engineering experience within a hospital or healthcare setting.
