    The Free State Department of Education is seeking two compassionate and motivated Child and Youth Care Workers for placement at Jimmie Roos Special School in Dewetsdorp. This role is vital in fostering a structured, safe, and emotionally supportive environment for learners with behavioural and emotional challenges.

    • Remuneration Package: R184,320 – R206,802 per annum (based on experience and notches)

    Responsibilities:

    • Create and maintain a safe, homely environment for learners.

    • Foster positive relationships between learners and between learners and staff.

    • Provide orientation and emotional support to new and existing learners.

    • Assist with daily routines, including hygiene, dress code, study time, and structured activities.

    • Monitor learner behaviour and enforce discipline when necessary.

    • Supervise hostel tasks and maintain order in assemblies and inspections.

    • Keep learners engaged with weekend and extra-mural activities.

    • Accompany learners to clinics, hospitals, camps, church, sports, and cultural events.

    • Participate in team meetings and in-service training.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate.

    • Child and Youth Care Certificate (recognized qualification in Child & Youth Care Work).

    • Ability to connect with youth, work in a structured environment, and respond effectively to learners’ emotional needs.

    • Willingness to work weekends, irregular hours, and handle emotionally demanding situations.
