    The Free State Department of Education invites applications for the position of Team Leader: Child and Youth Care Worker at two special schools. This role is critical in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing living environment for learners with emotional and behavioural needs.

    • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

    • Remuneration Package: R203,748 – R230,700 per annum (dependent on experience and applicable notches)

    Responsibilities:

    • Act as team leader for Child and Youth Care Workers.

    • Create a safe, homely environment for learners.

    • Promote healthy relationships between learners and staff.

    • Provide guidance, emotional support, and orientation for new learners.

    • Manage return of absconded learners and conduct searches when needed.

    • Ensure adherence to daily timetables, hygiene, dress code, and hostel rules.

    • Supervise learners during study, recreation, and extra-mural activities.

    • Enforce discipline fairly and appropriately.

    • Keep learners engaged in activities, especially on weekends.

    • Accompany learners to hospitals, clinics, sports, camps, church, and cultural events.

    • Participate in meetings and in-service training sessions.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate.

    • Child and Youth Care Certificate (recognized qualification in Child & Youth Care Work).

    • Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings.

    • Compassionate, disciplined, and strong leadership qualities.
