The Free State Department of Education invites applications for the position of Team Leader: Child and Youth Care Worker at two special schools. This role is critical in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing living environment for learners with emotional and behavioural needs.

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
- Remuneration Package: R203,748 – R230,700 per annum (dependent on experience and applicable notches)

Responsibilities:
Act as team leader for Child and Youth Care Workers.
Create a safe, homely environment for learners.
Promote healthy relationships between learners and staff.
Provide guidance, emotional support, and orientation for new learners.
Manage return of absconded learners and conduct searches when needed.
Ensure adherence to daily timetables, hygiene, dress code, and hostel rules.
Supervise learners during study, recreation, and extra-mural activities.
Enforce discipline fairly and appropriately.
Keep learners engaged in activities, especially on weekends.
Accompany learners to hospitals, clinics, sports, camps, church, and cultural events.
Participate in meetings and in-service training sessions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate.
Child and Youth Care Certificate (recognized qualification in Child & Youth Care Work).
Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings.
Compassionate, disciplined, and strong leadership qualities.
