Key Responsibilities
Manage daily operations of the healthcare unit’s kitchen.
Implement and monitor food production processes.
Control and optimise food and labour costs within budget.
Ensure full compliance with HACCP and food safety standards.
Develop and plan nutritious menus, including special diets.
Oversee and manage the kitchen brigade, ensuring productivity and teamwork.
Manage both strategic planning and day-to-day catering operations.
Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining high standards of food quality.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification in Food and Beverage Services or Culinary Arts (compulsory).
Minimum 3 years’ progressive kitchen/management experience (compulsory).
Strong experience working within budget guidelines to deliver results.
High-volume, complex food service operations experience (highly desirable).
Healthcare catering experience (essential).
Knowledge of special diets (compulsory).
Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards (advantageous).
Hospital environment experience (advantageous).
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
Comprehensive knowledge of catering environments (from fine dining to healthcare).
Strong understanding of South African and industry-specific laws.
