    The Assistant Director: Service Centres and LED (Xhariep) will coordinate, implement, and monitor small business support initiatives and ensure that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives receive the necessary support to thrive. The role also includes resource management and policy development in line with DESTEA’s mandate of advancing sustainable economic growth in the province.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree (Economics/Business Economics/Business Administration) – SAQA recognized.

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the small enterprise development sector.

    • Computer literacy.

    • Valid driver’s license.

    Added Advantage:

    • Knowledge of enterprise development sector prescripts.

    • Strong understanding of MSME operations and cooperative development.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Small Business Support & Coordination

      • Facilitate and implement small business initiatives and projects.

      • Monitor, evaluate, and report on project progress.

      • Conduct research and site visits to support interventions.

    • MSME & Cooperative Development

      • Provide business model and operational advice.

      • Support expansion and retention of small enterprises through access to funding.

      • Track enterprise development performance and impact.

    • Policy Development & Stakeholder Engagement

      • Contribute to policy review and development for small business support.

      • Gather relevant information to enhance departmental programmes.

      • Link MSMEs with relevant stakeholders and sector development processes.

    • Resource Management

      • Manage human, financial, and asset resources of the Centre.
