    • Employment Type: Contract (5 years, renewable for a second term)

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development of research flagships and strategic academic initiatives

    • Oversee all research and postgraduate student activities within the faculty

    • Support the Dean in implementing research strategies, securing third-stream income, and fostering innovation

    • Chair the Faculty’s Higher Degrees and Research Committee

    • Ensure compliance and excellence in postgraduate thesis submissions and examination processes

    • Promote internationalisation and cross-border collaborations

    • Build strategic partnerships, industry linkages, and funding networks

    • Lead engaged scholarship initiatives and represent the faculty on institutional committees

    Qualifications:

    • Doctoral degree (NQF Level 10) in a faculty-aligned discipline

    • Appointed at Associate Professor or Professor level

    • NRF-rated or eligible for NRF-rating

    • Proven postgraduate supervision (master’s and PhD) and research publication record

    • Proven experience in research grant applications, third-stream income generation, and innovation

    • Prior management experience in an academic environment

    • Internationally recognised for research leadership and peer-reviewed publications

    Recommendations:

    • Strategic and analytical thinking skills

    • Strong facilitation, negotiation, and communication abilities

    • Knowledge of faculty governance and committee structures

    • Record of inter-faculty and inter-departmental collaboration
