Project Overview
The municipality seeks to appoint a qualified construction contractor to upgrade the swimming pool facilities at Bakenpark. The project includes the construction of new facilities and supporting infrastructure to improve community recreational amenities.

Scope of Work
Swimming Pool Upgrades
- Upgrade existing swimming pool facilities.
- Construction of a new swimming pool where specified.
- Waterproofing and finishing works.
- Testing and commissioning of pool systems.
New Building Works
Construction of:
- Change room block
- Pump house
- Associated service structures
Civil Engineering Works
- Site preparation and clearing.
- Earthworks and excavation.
- Demolition of existing structures where required.

Water and Sewer Infrastructure
- Installation of water supply systems.
- Sewer and drainage connections.
- Plumbing works in accordance with SABS standards.

Security and Boundary Works
- Installation of fencing.
- Construction of bund walls.
- Access control and perimeter improvements where required.
Technical Requirements
The contractor must ensure:
Construction Compliance
- Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Compliance with Construction Regulations.
- Environmental management compliance.
- Adherence to all project specifications and drawings.
Materials and Workmanship
- Approved concrete mixes and reinforcement.
- Waterproofing systems.
- Tiling and finishes.

Site Management

Minimum Contractor Requirements
CIDB Grading
Contractors must possess:
CIDB Grade 5GB or higher
Experience
Demonstrated experience in:
- Building construction.
- Civil engineering works.
- Swimming pool construction and refurbishment.
- Municipal infrastructure projects.
Required Project Team
Project Manager
Must have:
- Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Experience managing similar infrastructure projects.
Site Agent
Must possess:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil works and construction supervision.
Foreman
Must possess:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in building and civil construction projects.
Safety Officer
Must have:
- Valid South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions registration.
- Experience in construction health and safety management.
Additional Requirements
Bidders must demonstrate:
- Financial stability.
- Positive bank rating.
- Adequate technical and human resources.
- Ability to manage subcontractors.
- Strong project planning and scheduling capability.
