This role requires leadership in coordinating nursing activities, ensuring compliance with professional standards and nursing legislation, and fostering a positive patient experience. The Professional Nurse also supports the development of nursing staff and contributes to continuous quality improvement within the clinical environment.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver safe, comprehensive, and quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team

• Lead and coordinate nursing teams to ensure optimal patient care

• Identify, prevent, and manage patient risks to promote safety

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions

• Promote a positive patient experience by fostering a supportive environment

• Support learning and development to build staff competence

• Accurately chart all stock and equipment used

Qualifications:

• Essential Education: Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR a 4-year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing

• Desired Education: Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery or Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri-operative Nursing) if placed in a specialist unit

• Essential Experience: None required

• Skills and Knowledge:

  • Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised units)

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

  • Patient assessment and care planning

  • Knowledge of pharmacology, nursing legislation, infection prevention, and control

  • Proficiency in scientific nursing principles, processes, and record keeping
