    • Job Title: Trade Advisor: Investigations
    • Company: Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA)
    • Location: Bloemfontein, Free State
    • Employment Type: Full-time (Permanent)

    Responsibilities:

    • Investigate alleged unfair business practices experienced by consumers.

    • Mediate between consumers and businesses through the Consumer Court process.

    • Engage continuously with both parties during the investigation.

    • Apply the five key steps of investigation and close resolved cases.

    • Advise consumers on case outcomes and potential financial implications.

    • Escalate non-compliant businesses to the Enforcement component.

    • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly reports on resolved and outstanding cases to the Head of Department.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in BCom Law, LLB, or a related legal field.

    • Minimum of three years’ experience in consumer-related issues.

    • Knowledge and application of Consumer Protection legislation, especially the Consumer Protection Act.

    • Valid driver’s license and computer literacy are essential.

    • Ability to interpret and apply policies and guidelines effectively.
