Job Purpose
The Stock Clerk plays a key role in maintaining accurate stock records by conducting random checks, reconciling stock movements, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring the integrity of stock information across departments.
Qualifications & Experience
For this Stock Clerk Job Opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience: 3-5 years of proven experience in a similar position, preferably in the FMCG Retail industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word.
Key Responsibilities
As part of this Stock Clerk Job Opportunity, your primary duties will include:
- Stock Reconciliation
- Ensuring accurate recording of stock movements such as purchases, transfers, invoices, credits, and write-offs.
- Verifying stock movements recorded in the system with actual gate activity, ensuring goods received, dispatched, or returned match recorded transactions.
- Investigating Discrepancies
- Reviewing stock movements against camera footage to ensure accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
- Investigating inconsistencies between system records, documentation, and physical movements, and taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Detailed Documentation
- Documenting all reconciliation processes, including findings and adjustments, to maintain accurate stock records.
- Collaboration Across Teams
- Working closely with purchasing, warehouse operations, and finance teams to resolve stock-related issues and ensure consistency across departments.
- Invoice and Stock Adjustments
- Managing stock adjustments due to aging, damage, or discrepancies and ensuring proper documentation.
- Reviewing and resolving invoice discrepancies and communicating corrections to relevant stakeholders.
- Physical Stock Counts
- Conducting stock recounts to validate and correct discrepancies identified during reconciliation processes.
- Communicating stock corrections or adjustments to warehouse and management teams.
- Camera Footage Review
- Managing and organizing camera footage for stock verification and audits.
- Performing random checks of full loads to verify adherence to loading instructions.
- Reporting and Safety Compliance
- Generating reports on stock activities, including outbound movements based on camera footage.
- Adhering to safety guidelines and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
