Responsibilities:

Develop and implement SHEQ strategies aligned with legislation and ISO standards (ISO 22000, 14001, 45001)

Conduct regular site inspections, accident investigations, and risk assessments

Manage compliance with OHSACT, COID ACT, and Environmental Conservation Act
-
Coordinate monthly safety meetings and maintain safety documentation
-
Lead emergency planning, drills, and system implementation
-
Identify safety training needs and facilitate internal or external training sessions
-
Collaborate with contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards
-
Conduct audits and monitor non-conformance issues
-
Report incidents, root causes, and recommend corrective action to management
-
Regularly update management on changes to legislation and safety protocols
Qualifications:
-
Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent
-
National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent
-
NEBOSH International Certificate, NOSA SAMTRAC/SHEMTRAC or equivalent
-
Construction Regulations training (beneficial)
-
5+ years’ experience in Food Safety Management Systems
-
5+ years’ experience in a SHEQ role within the FMCG industry
-
Valid Code 08 Driver’s License
Skills and Knowledge:
-
Excellent knowledge of OHSACT, COID, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001
-
Familiar with safety systems and environmental legislation

Able to lead safety initiatives and engage stakeholders at all levels

Strong communication, problem-solving, and report writing skills
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Intermediate level)

Experience with risk assessments, audits, and non-conformance processes
-
Accuracy, attention to detail, and team collaboration are essential
