Project Objective
Maluti-a-Phofung Water seeks to appoint a qualified service provider to supply, install, service, test, repair, and commission firefighting equipment at municipal facilities. The project aims to improve fire safety compliance and ensure that firefighting systems meet Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and applicable South African National Standards (SANS).
Scope of Work
Fire Extinguisher Supply
Supply and install:
- 9kg Dry Chemical Powder (DCP) fire extinguishers with brackets.
- Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) fire extinguishers in various sizes.
- Associated mounting brackets and accessories.
Installation Services
- Install fire extinguishers at designated municipal facilities.
- Ensure correct placement and mounting according to fire safety regulations.
- Label and commission equipment where required.
Servicing and Maintenance
- Service existing fire extinguishers.
- Refill extinguishers where necessary.
- Conduct nitrogen recharging.
- Test equipment functionality and compliance.
Repair and Commissioning
- Repair existing fire safety equipment.
- Repair and commission sprinkler systems.
- Test operational readiness of installed systems.
Documentation
Upon completion, provide:
- Warranty certificates.
- Service records.
- Before-and-after photographs.
- Testing and commissioning reports.
- Compliance documentation.
Technical Requirements
All work must comply with:
- SANS 1475 Part 1 & 2
- SANS 10139
- SANS 10400-T
- Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
Equipment Requirements
- All supplied equipment must be new and compliant.
- Minimum 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects.
- Installation and servicing must be performed by competent personnel.
Minimum Requirements for Bidders
Experience
The bidder must demonstrate:
- Proven experience in fire protection services.
- Experience servicing and installing firefighting equipment.
- Experience with sprinkler systems and fire safety infrastructure.
Technical Capability
- Qualified fire protection technicians.
- Ability to test and commission fire protection systems.
- Knowledge of applicable SANS standards.
Documentation
The bidder should be able to provide:
- Company profile.
- Relevant references.
- Warranty certificates.
- Compliance documentation.
- Project completion reports.
Deliverables
The successful bidder must provide:
- Fire extinguishers supplied and installed
- Existing extinguishers serviced and recharged
- Sprinkler systems repaired and commissioned
- Compliance certificates issued
- Warranty documentation provided
- Before-and-after photographic evidence
- Final completion report
