Project Objective
Maluti-a-Phofung Water seeks to appoint a qualified pest control and hygiene service provider to perform a once-off pest eradication and hygiene intervention at municipal facilities. The aim is to:
- Eliminate pest infestations.
- Improve hygiene conditions.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Prevent future infestations.
Scope of Work
The successful bidder will be required to:
Pest Inspection and Assessment
- Conduct comprehensive inspections at municipal facilities.
- Identify pest infestation risks and affected areas.
Pest Control Services
Treat and control:
- Rats and mice
- Cockroaches
- Ants
- Flies
- Mosquitoes
- Other insects identified during inspections
Hygiene and Prevention Measures
- Apply approved pest control products.
- Manage waste and odours related to pest infestations.
- Implement preventative measures against future infestations.
Site Coverage
Services may be required at:
- Water treatment works
- Reservoirs
- Pump stations
- Municipal offices
- Other water infrastructure facilities
Travel between sites within an estimated 250 km radius will be required.
Reporting
Provide a completion report detailing:
- Areas treated
- Types of pests controlled
- Chemicals used
- Recommendations for future pest prevention
Technical Requirements
The service provider must:
- Supply and use registered pest control chemicals.
- Comply with South African pest control legislation.
- Ensure all work is supervised by qualified pest control technicians.
- Use appropriate PPE.
- Follow occupational health and safety regulations.
- Protect water infrastructure from contamination.
- Prevent harm to:
- Employees
- Members of the public
- Animals and wildlife
- Water resources
A completion declaration confirming legal and environmentally compliant treatment must be submitted.
Mandatory Requirements
Bidders must provide:
Registration and Compliance
- Registration as a Pest Control Operator under the Fertilizers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947.
- Pest Control Operator registration certificate.
- Qualified technician registration certificates.
- Valid COIDA/Compensation Fund Letter of Good Standing.
Experience
- Proof of similar pest control projects completed.
- Relevant references and experience.
Health and Safety Compliance
- Evidence of compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
