Project Objective
SANParks seeks to appoint a qualified service provider to clean reservoirs and water storage tanks at Golden Gate Highlands National Park. The objective is to ensure clean, safe, and well-maintained water storage infrastructure that supports the park’s operational and environmental requirements.
Scope of Work
The successful bidder will be responsible for:
Reservoir Cleaning
- Drain reservoirs to a level of approximately 1–1.5 metres from the bottom.
- Remove sediment, debris, and contaminants.
- Clean internal reservoir surfaces.
Tank Cleaning
- Clean water tanks with a capacity of approximately 250,000 litres.
- Ensure tanks are hygienically cleaned and suitable for continued use.
- Remove sludge, dirt, and accumulated deposits.
Maintenance Activities
- Inspect cleaned reservoirs and tanks.
- Report any visible defects or maintenance concerns.
- Ensure cleaning activities comply with safety and environmental standards.
Technical Requirements
The contractor must:
- Drain reservoirs to the required levels before cleaning.
- Clean reservoirs and tanks according to accepted industry practices.
- Work safely within confined-space and water infrastructure environments.
- Follow all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Provide proof of successful completion where required.
Mandatory Requirements
Experience
Bidders must provide:
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in reservoir and tank cleaning.
- Reference letters confirming similar work completed within the last two years.
- Evidence of previous contracts involving water storage infrastructure cleaning.
Compliance Documentation
The bidder must submit:
- Completed SBD 4 (Declaration of Interest).
- Completed SBD 7 (Contract Form).
- Any additional tender compliance documentation required by SANParks.
Technical Capability
The service provider should demonstrate:
- Experience cleaning large-capacity reservoirs and tanks.
- Knowledge of water infrastructure maintenance.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in environmentally sensitive areas.
