- Salary / Remuneration: R81,661.00 per month (Total Cost to Company: R979,931 per annum)

Main Purpose of the Job:
To lead and conduct impactful research in Mechanical Engineering, supervise postgraduate students, and contribute to the research output and income generation of the university.
Key Responsibilities / Main Tasks:
Lead and conduct research within an identified focus area
Develop and manage a research niche within the faculty
Supervise Master’s and Doctoral students
Contribute to a vibrant and sustainable research culture
Teach Research Methodology at NQF Level 8 and 9
Secure third-stream income and external research funding
Engage in community-related research projects
Present research at local and international conferences
Minimum Requirements:
A relevant Doctorate-level degree (D Tech / PhD / NQF 10 or equivalent)
Minimum 4 years’ experience in research, lecturing, or project management
Proven research output:
At least 3 credit units (books, journal articles, conference papers, patents, etc.)
8 conference presentations, with at least 1 international presentation
Postgraduate supervision:
Students who obtained M and D degrees, at double the number required of Senior Lecturers
Experience in managing research projects
Participation in at least 1 community-based research project
Mentorship experience at M & D level
Desired Qualifications / Experience:
Additional qualifications relevant to Mechanical Engineering or the research field
Evidence of meeting Associate Professor-level research criteria
Record of external funding applications and successful project management
Strong national and international academic networks
Demonstrated industry collaboration and engagement
