Company Overview:
The Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA) is mandated to drive sustainable economic development and environmental management within the Free State Province. As custodians of several nature reserves, DESTEA ensures the conservation of biodiversity, protection of ecosystems, and sustainable use of natural resources while balancing economic and social priorities.
Responsibilities:

Oversee infrastructure maintenance, functional utilization, and development within the reserve.

Ensure biodiversity preservation for ecological sustainability.

Manage risks and ensure security across the reserve.

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Perform administrative functions and reporting duties.

Manage human, financial, and asset resources of the reserve.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation, Wildlife, Environmental Management, or Environmental Sciences.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Nature Conservation.

Knowledge of environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (NEMBA, 2004).

Understanding of sustainable use of natural resources and protected species regulations.

Computer literacy.

Valid driver’s license.
Benefits:

R612 480 per annum (OSD salary package), determined based on relevant experience and regulatory frameworks.
