Job Overview
MediRite is seeking an experienced and qualified Pharmacy Manager to lead operations at Medirite Sentraal in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, compliant, and profitable operation of the pharmacy while managing staff performance and delivering exceptional customer service.
This role combines professional pharmaceutical responsibilities with operational management, financial oversight, and leadership of a retail pharmacy team.
Job Description
1. Individual Responsibilities

Perform dispensing duties in compliance with SAPC and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards.

Ensure accurate prescription processing and patient counselling.
Operational results achieved through delegated tasks:

Pharmacy administration

Housekeeping

Stock control and inventory management

Customer service excellence

Sales performance

Compliance with pharmacy legislation

Implementation of marketing campaigns
2. Management Responsibilities
-
Plan and coordinate operational workflows.

Set priorities and schedule pharmacy staff.

Monitor operational and financial performance.

Manage staffing, resourcing, and capacity planning.

Build and maintain relationships with prescribers, suppliers, Head Office, Store Manager, and Cash Office.

Resolve escalated operational and customer issues.

Manage pharmacy budgets and financial performance.
3. Leadership Responsibilities

Develop, mentor, and tutor pharmacists, interns, and assistants.

Motivate, guide, and discipline team members when required.

Foster a diverse, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture.
Qualifications
Essential:
-
Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent qualification.

Registered as a Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
Desirable:

PCDT (Primary Care Drug Therapy) qualification.

Registered tutor status.
Experience
Essential:

Experience managing and leading staff.

Experience in a retail pharmacy environment.
Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of retail pharmacy operations.

Knowledge of dispensing and ordering systems.

Understanding of pharmacy legislation and compliance requirements.

Financial management knowledge (budgeting and performance tracking).

Computer literacy (MS Office).

Experience with Unisolv (essential).

Marconi system experience (advantageous).
