    Job Overview

    MediRite is seeking a qualified Pharmacist Locum to take responsibility for pharmacy operations within selected Shoprite, Checkers, and Checkers Hyper stores in the Bloemfontein area.

    The locum pharmacist will act as the On-Duty Pharmacist, ensuring full compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), ethical standards, and statutory legislation. The role involves patient counselling, drug therapy management, supervising pharmacy staff, and overseeing daily pharmacy operations, including administrative and financial duties.

    Core Responsibilities

    1. Professional & Regulatory Compliance

    • Act as the On-Duty Pharmacist.

    • Ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP).

    • Maintain ethical standards and statutory compliance.

    • Perform drug interventions where necessary.

    2. Patient Care

    • Provide professional patient counselling.

    • Ensure accurate and safe dispensing of medication.

    • Address medication-related queries and concerns.

    3. Pharmacy Operations

    • Oversee daily store operations.

    • Supervise pharmacy staff.

    • Manage stock control and ordering systems.

    • Maintain housekeeping and front shop service standards.

    • Perform cash handling and banking duties.

    • Operate the Unisolve system effectively.

    4. Administrative Duties

    • Handle pharmacy administration tasks.

    • Maintain accurate records and documentation.

    • Ensure proper dispensing processes (under supervision where required).

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • BPharm or equivalent Pharmaceutical Degree.

    • Registered as a Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

    • Proof of Professional Indemnity Insurance.

    • Retail pharmacy experience (preferred).

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Strong dispensing knowledge.

    • Knowledge of dispensing and ordering systems.

    • Good understanding of retail pharmacy operations.

    • Strong attention to detail and compliance awareness.

    • Ability to supervise and lead pharmacy staff.
