Role Purpose:
To process donated blood into usable blood products (both standard and specialised), while adhering to quality and time standards. You will also be responsible for supplying these products to blood banks and maintaining excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Duties:
Process first-line and specialised blood products efficiently
Ensure compliance with time and quality standards
Support distribution to blood banks
2. Laboratory & Instrument Maintenance:
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments
Ensure readiness and cleanliness of work environment
3. Quality & Risk Control:
Adhere to all safety, risk, and quality standards
Assist in compliance with internal policies and external regulations
4. Customer & Stakeholder Service:
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners
Resolve issues and provide accurate information
5. General Functions:
Contribute to continuous improvement and administrative tasks
Perform shift and weekend work as needed

Minimum Requirements:
Education:
One of the following is required:
Matric with Mathematics and at least one science subject
OR: Completion of a Laboratory Assistant Learnership
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime
Willing to travel locally and nationally
Must be generally healthy, with good mobility and proficient eyesight
Ideal Candidate:
Recently completed Matric with strong marks in Maths and Science
OR a person who has gone through a medical laboratory assistant programme
Passion for healthcare, science, and helping people
Detail-oriented, ethical, and reliable
Able to handle physical demands and shift work
Team player with good communication skills
