Job Overview
The Transport Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all transport operations within the branch, with a strong focus on last-mile delivery efficiency, fleet readiness, regulatory compliance, cost control, and people leadership.
This role operates in a fast-paced logistics environment and requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational execution, safety compliance, customer service, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will ensure transport services are efficient, safe, compliant, and cost-effective, while aligning operations with City Logistics’ strategic and service excellence objectives.
Job Description
1. Transport Operations Management

Develop and implement transport strategies aligned with business objectives

Manage and control daily transport operations in line with company policies

Optimize delivery schedules, routing, and last-mile execution

Drive efficiency through effective use of transport management systems (TMS)

Monitor driver and vehicle performance

Manage electronic ticketing systems and support system enhancements
2. Fleet Management & Readiness

Oversee fleet maintenance programs and ensure roadworthiness

Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime

Monitor fleet costs and recommend procurement or optimization solutions

Ensure optimal utilization of vehicles and drivers
3. Risk Management & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with road traffic legislation and transport regulations

Enforce safety standards and OHSA requirements

Conduct and support regular safety audits

Maintain accurate transport records and documentation
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Focus

Manage relationships with third-party service providers and suppliers

Collaborate with customer service teams to resolve transport-related issues

5. Budget & Cost Control

Lead, coach, and motivate the transport team

Manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and discipline

7. Fleet Department Oversight

Manage vehicle acquisitions, disposals, and fleet policy administration

Negotiate with suppliers and provide technical fleet support

Analyze trends and prepare reports to guide fleet strategy

Administer fleet management system rules, including branding and compliance
8. Transport-Specific Responsibilities

Manage vehicle licensing, transfers, fuel consumption, and driver behavior
