Job Overview:
The Technical Application Specialist will provide expert-level technical support and product application guidance to Sales Area Managers and customers within one of three core product portfolios: Co-Ex technology, food ingredients, or food processing equipment. This role is critical in enabling innovation, driving technical projects, and enhancing commercial outcomes through hands-on application expertise, customer engagement, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
Product & Application Support
Serve as the technical expert for one of the core portfolios (Co-Ex, Equipment, or Ingredients)
Conduct product trials, demonstrations, and application development activities
Troubleshoot product/process issues for both internal and external stakeholders
Sales Force Enablement
Train and support Sales Area Managers to enhance their technical product knowledge
Deliver technical presentations, customer training, and product demos
Collaborate with Sales teams to transform technical insights into sales opportunities
Project & Innovation
Lead technical projects, including product rollouts, equipment implementations, and validation studies
Work closely with R&D and Quality teams to align innovation with customer requirements
Document project progress, test results, and trial outcomes
Customer Engagement
Provide direct technical advice and support to customers, ensuring optimal product performance
Conduct on-site visits, customer troubleshooting, and application optimisation
Build long-term customer trust as a technical advisor
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all activities comply with relevant food safety and quality standards (HACCP, ISO)
Support validation of product specs, shelf life, and performance testing
Minimum Requirements:
BSc/BTech in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, or related field
3–5 years’ experience in product development, technical support, or applications within the food industry
Strong knowledge in at least one of the following:
Co-Ex technology (e.g., sausage casing & processing)
Food processing equipment (installation, optimisation)
Food ingredients (e.g., marinades, functional blends)
Solid understanding of food safety systems and regulatory standards (HACCP, ISO)
Valid Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel nationally
Key Competencies:
Excellent technical knowledge of food/poultry processing
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to independently plan and execute trials
Effective communication and customer engagement abilities
High adaptability and comfort with frequent travel
