Job Overview / Description
We are seeking a qualified and Afrikaans-speaking Retail Pharmacist to join our client’s team in Bloemfontein, Free State. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient dispensing of medication while delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care and customer service within a retail pharmacy environment.
The ideal candidate must be registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and have a solid understanding of retail pharmacy operations. This position requires a dedicated professional who can maintain compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, manage stock, assist customers with prescriptions and over-the-counter products, and work effectively within a team.
Key Responsibilities

Dispense prescription and over-the-counter medication accurately and efficiently.

Provide professional advice and counselling on the correct use of medicines and health-related products.

Ensure compliance with SAPC regulations and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards.

Maintain proper stock control, including ordering, receiving, and managing expiry dates.

Supervise pharmacy assistants and support staff where required.

Deliver excellent customer service and ensure patient satisfaction.

Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment.

Handle administrative duties such as record-keeping and reporting as required by law.

Work retail hours, including weekends or shifts, as needed.
Minimum Requirements

Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist.

Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent qualification.

1–2 years’ experience in a retail pharmacy environment.

Proficient in Afrikaans and English (spoken and written).

Willingness to work retail hours.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Attention to detail with a commitment to providing safe and effective pharmaceutical care.
