    An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Unit Manager – Emergency to join a respected private healthcare facility in Harrismith, Free State. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strong clinical leadership within the Emergency Department, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, and maintaining efficient operational management in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

    This position requires a professional with a background in emergency and trauma nursing, a solid understanding of hospital operations, and a passion for leading and developing a high-performing nursing team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department.

    • Provide effective clinical leadership and ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

    • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing and support staff to ensure optimal performance.

    • Monitor patient care standards and ensure compliance with hospital and SANC regulations.

    • Manage staffing, budgets, and departmental resources efficiently.

    • Maintain accurate documentation, patient records, and reporting systems.

    • Ensure proper stock control and ordering of medical supplies and equipment.

    • Work closely with doctors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.

    • Oversee billing processes and contribute to operational improvements.

    • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the unit.

    Minimum Requirements

    •  Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
    • Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing (essential).
    •  Relevant experience in Emergency or Casualty units.
    •  Minimum of 3 years’ clinical leadership or managerial experience (advantageous).
    •  Intermediate computer proficiency; SAP experience beneficial.
    •  Sound knowledge of billing procedures and stock management.
    •  Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
