    Overall Purpose

    To manage the liquor department/store by overseeing merchandising, people, systems, customer service, finance, and health & safety. The manager must ensure compliance with standards, deliver sales targets, manage stock effectively, and lead a productive team.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric / Grade 12

    • 2+ years supervisory experience

    • Experience in a wine/liquor department or general department management

    • Strong communication and customer focus

    • Ability to plan, organize, follow up, and manage performance

    • Business-minded and target-driven

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Merchandising Management

    • Implement planograms correctly

    • Rotate stock on sales floor and backup area

    • Maintain merchandising, cleanliness, and promotional standards

    • Represent all stock on the floor

    • Report persistent stock issues

    • Follow health & safety policies

    • Communicate customer needs to demand planning

    2. Systems Management

    • Perform gap scans for out-of-stocks

    • Identify, count, and record overstocks/understocks

    • Use SAP to pull reports, process IDTs, record reduced-to-clear

    • Action electronic communications daily

    3. Customer Service Management

    • Handle customer complaints and special requests

    • Provide product advice

    4. People Management & Development

    • Evaluate performance against objectives

    • Provide input into staff scheduling

    • Communicate store and department results

    • Motivate staff

    • Identify training needs and coach the team

    5. Finance & Administration

    • Maintain equipment in working order

    • Ensure general maintenance standards

    • Control departmental expenses

    • Investigate budget variances

    • Monitor waste and ensure proper waste procedures
