This permanent position forms part of VKB’s broader agricultural and manufacturing operations, focusing on high-quality packaging production. The role requires technical skill, precision, teamwork, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced production environment.
Job Summary
The Flexographic Printing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting multicolour flexographic printing machines to ensure the production of high-quality printed materials. This includes reading job specifications, monitoring print quality, performing adjustments, maintaining machinery, and working closely with the production team to meet deadlines. The position demands strong mechanical aptitude, printing knowledge, and physical stamina.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Setup

Set up and operate multicolour flexographic printing machines.

Mount and set stereos according to job specifications.

Read and interpret job cards and printing specifications accurately.
Quality Control

Monitor print quality throughout production runs.

Make necessary adjustments to ensure high-quality output.

Coordinate with the production team to meet print order timelines.
Maintenance & Housekeeping

Perform routine and preventative maintenance on printing machines.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during printing.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Safety & Compliance

Follow all company safety procedures and protocols.

Handle printing equipment and materials safely and responsibly.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
-
Grade 12 or equivalent.
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a machine operator.

Proven experience as a flexographic printer (printing and packaging environment preferred).

Strong understanding of:
— Multicolour flexographic printing machines
— Flexographic inks
— Stereo tapes
— Pantone colour systems
