    Job Purpose

    To manage and oversee the operations, maintenance, and improvement of water resource infrastructure within the Central Operations Directorate. The role focuses on ensuring efficient and sustainable service delivery through sound engineering management, planning, and leadership. The incumbent will also be responsible for financial control, human resource development, and stakeholder relations within the area office.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) / Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng) or equivalent qualification.

    • Experience: At least six (6) years post-qualification engineering experience.

    • Professional Registration: Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer.

    • Driver’s Licence: A valid and unexpired driver’s licence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage the Area Office under the Central Operations Directorate.

    • Implement and monitor Water Resource Infrastructure Operations.

    • Develop and implement short-, medium-, and long-term plans to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

    • Enforce dam safety standards and maintain emergency preparedness plans.

    • Oversee maintenance, betterment, and operational plans for infrastructure and related facilities.

    • Provide strategic leadership and direction in the management of financial and corporate resources within the Cluster Office.

    • Prepare, manage, and control the Area Office budget in line with departmental policies.

    • Manage state-owned land and facilities related to water resource infrastructure.

    • Conduct monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on Cluster Office performance.

    • Drive staff development, ensuring technical and managerial capacity building.

    • Promote and maintain effective stakeholder engagement and ensure customer-focused service delivery related to water resources.

    Additional Information

    • Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical test as part of the selection process.
