Job Description
Customer Service & Sales
Greet and assist all customers with a friendly and positive attitude
Identify customer needs and recommend suitable books and products
Upsell, cross-sell, and promote current store promotions
Build positive relationships with customers to encourage repeat business
Book Knowledge & Customer Support
Continuously develop knowledge of books, authors, and genres
Source and order books for customers using in-store lookup systems
Recommend alternative titles and unique products when required
Merchandising & Store Presentation
Maintain attractive window and in-store displays
Refresh displays every two weeks in line with promotions
Ensure bestsellers are stocked and clearly displayed
Keep the store clean, tidy, and well-organized
Stock Management & Control
Receive, unpack, and categorize books and merchandise
Assist the Store Manager with stock control and shrinkage prevention
Security & Loss Prevention
Stay alert to potential shoplifting and non-shopping behaviour
Support store security and loss-prevention procedures
Administration & Cash Handling
Assist with cash-ups, credit card checks, and gift voucher processing
Support attendance registers, supplier payouts, and basic store admin
Manage email communication and required paperwork
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
Matric (essential)
Retail or sales experience (preferred)
Relevant qualifications in Marketing, English Literature, Communications, Journalism, or similar (advantageous)
High level of computer literacy
Physically strong and healthy
Skills, Attributes & Competencies
Fully bilingual
