Job Overview
The Fleet Controller is responsible for the effective and efficient management of all Chery company-owned vehicles across applicable brands and departments. The role ensures that vehicles are accounted for, compliant, properly maintained, and inspected regularly, in line with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
This position requires a highly detail-oriented, process-driven professional with strong automotive industry knowledge. The successful candidate will oversee the full fleet lifecycle, manage risk, coordinate stakeholders, and provide accurate reporting to support business objectives and long-term company success.
Job Description
Fleet Control & Vehicle Accountability
Control access to vehicle keys and maintain accurate key handover records
Ensure all company-owned vehicles are fully accounted for at all times
Conduct vehicle inspections at each handover and maintain complete inspection records
Fleet Operations & Lifecycle Management
Manage the full vehicle lifecycle, including proactive de-fleeting
Coordinate vehicle movements for launches, marketing, and operational needs
Oversee handover of sold, de-fleeted vehicles to dealers and direct customers
Monitor fleet usage and ensure optimal utilization
Maintenance, Repairs & Compliance
Proactively coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs throughout the vehicle lifecycle
Ensure vehicles are maintained according to SOPs before disposal
Identify and escalate potential risks related to fleet condition or compliance
Systems, Process Improvement & Risk Management
Oversee implementation and continuous improvement of fleet management systems
Develop, refine, and improve fleet-related processes
Manage operational risks and escalate concerns to senior management
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Coordinate and facilitate communication between Chery SA brands, dealer networks, and third-party service providers
Build and maintain strong internal and external working relationships
Reporting & Administration
Prepare and submit monthly management reports on fleet usage
Maintain accurate documentation and records
Perform additional tasks as required by senior management
Experience & Qualification Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in a similar fleet-related role
Automotive industry experience (non-negotiable)
Matric
Valid driver’s license
