    Purpose of the Role

    To assist the Catering Manager in managing day-to-day operations of a healthcare catering service, ensuring quality, hygiene, compliance, and efficient delivery. The role includes meal preparation oversight, staff supervision, inventory, admin, and customer service in a demanding healthcare environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the production of meals and functions, focusing on quality and presentation

    • Oversee and assist with lunch service

    • Plan and cost menus with the manager

    • Place and manage supplier orders

    • Handle stock issuing, receiving, storing and rotation

    • Complete administrative returns and reports

    • Conduct hygiene and safety inspections (HACCP & NOSA compliance)

    • Train and develop kitchen staff

    • Ensure security of storerooms and safes

    • Participate in stocktakes

    • Manage the catering operation in the Manager’s absence

    • Attend training and meetings

    • Represent the company at exhibitions when needed

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Matric / Grade 12 (Compulsory)

    • Tertiary qualification in hospitality, food service management, or similar (advantageous)

    Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the catering/restaurant industry, ideally in a supervisory role

    • Previous experience in a healthcare environment is a strong advantage
