Purpose of the Role
To strategically and operationally manage a portfolio of high-value commercial clients (R150 million+), ensuring portfolio growth through acquisition, retention, and relationship management, while delivering on profitability, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Portfolio Management
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with high-value commercial clients.
Acquire new clients and retain existing ones to ensure portfolio growth.
Engage with clients to understand their unique business and financial needs, providing tailored solutions.
Structure commercial deals, ensuring compliance with FNB’s credit policy and governance.
Financial & Business Performance
Manage cost-to-income ratio to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
Drive revenue growth through cross-selling, digital adoption, and innovative banking solutions.
Provide budget input, monitor utilisation, and report on financial performance.
Identify and manage financial and operational risks in client portfolios.
Customer Service Excellence
Deliver a premium client experience, ensuring service levels exceed expectations.
Resolve client queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
Promote digital banking solutions and process efficiency.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all client and portfolio activities comply with legislative, regulatory, and audit requirements.
Participate in risk forums and governance processes.
Implement compliance procedures aligned with FNB’s standards and South African financial laws.
Leadership & Collaboration
Collaborate with product houses, finance, and risk teams to align on business strategy.
Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
Promote a culture of teamwork, innovation, and inclusivity.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) or equivalent degree (Honours preferred).
3–5 years’ experience in Commercial Banking or a similar environment.
Proven experience with credit applications, client onboarding, and relationship management.
RE qualification (Regulatory Examination for Representatives).
Strong deal structuring and financial analysis abilities.
Preferred:
Experience managing a portfolio of large corporate or high-net-worth clients.
Credit Management qualification or exposure.
