Job Overview
Botshabelo District Hospital is seeking a Professional Nurse specialising in Operating Theatre services to provide comprehensive and quality nursing care to patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and ethical nursing practices while supporting effective patient care within the nursing unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a cost-effective, efficient and equitable manner.
- Ensure compliance with professional and ethical nursing practices.
- Support the effective functioning of the Operating Theatre nursing unit.
- Apply relevant nursing standards, policies and procedures.
- Promote safe and quality patient care.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health programmes and standards.
- Contribute to maintaining the National Core Standards and Ideal Clinic Realisation requirements.
- Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Apply sound leadership and management principles within the nursing environment.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
Minimum Requirements
- Senior Certificate.
- Basic R425 nursing qualification, such as:
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing, or equivalent qualification allowing registration with SANC; or
- 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174); or
- 3-year Diploma in General Nursing (R171).
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A 1-year post-basic nursing qualification in Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing, accredited by SANC.
- At least 4 years’ appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- At least 1 year of the required experience must have been obtained after completing the 1-year Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science qualification.
- Current SANC registration for 2026/2027.
