Job Description
The University of the Free State is seeking a Sport Cleaner to provide effective cleaning and support services within its facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe and well-organised environments, handling cleaning equipment and materials, assisting with events, and reporting maintenance or equipment-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming and toilet cleaning.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor polishers after appropriate training.
- Safely use stepladders when required.
- Handle cleaning materials and chemicals according to prescribed safety instructions.
- Maintain and care for assigned cleaning equipment and materials.
- Restock cleaning supplies when necessary.
- Assist with setting up and cleaning facilities for events.
- Ensure doors and windows are closed and locked where practicable.
- Respond to reasonable client requests and communicate service-related matters.
- Report faulty equipment and maintenance issues to the Senior Assistant Officer.
- Perform additional duties in line with the work schedule.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 / NQF Level 2 or higher.
- Experience in general cleaning.
- Experience cleaning and maintaining facilities.
- Experience using cleaning equipment.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning materials and chemicals.
Recommended Experience
- At least 1 year of relevant general cleaning experience is recommended.
