The Planning Advisor: Economic Strategic Planning will provide expertise in aligning local economic development strategies to provincial priorities and ensuring effective implementation of economic recovery interventions. This role requires strong policy alignment, intergovernmental coordination, and municipal support to promote sustainable economic growth across the Free State.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Economics/Business Economics (SAQA recognised).

5 years’ experience in an economic planning environment.

Strong computer literacy.

Valid driver’s license.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
-
Align economic policies with provincial priorities.
-
Ensure Local Economic Development (LED) strategies are consistent with the Free State Growth and Development Strategy (FSGDS).

Oversee implementation of the Free State Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan at local municipalities.
-
Facilitate adaptive interventions to respond to economic changes.
-
Strengthen capacity building through District and Provincial LED Forums.
-
Provide support to municipalities in developing Ease of Doing Business plans.
-
Develop and maintain intersectoral liaison strategies.
-
Facilitate LED strategy reviews at municipalities and guide on Integrated Development Plans (IDPs).
-
Contribute to policy development and ensure budget, asset, and resource management within the division.
