Job Overview

Eskom is seeking two experienced Supervisors to oversee and coordinate substation construction activities within the Free State region. The role is responsible for ensuring that contract objectives are achieved in terms of time, cost, quality, environmental compliance, and health and safety standards.

The successful candidate will supervise teams, manage construction activities, and ensure adherence to Eskom standards, SHEQ systems, and relevant legislation.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise substation construction activities

• Plan and schedule project activities in coordination with the Project Planner

• Supervise and manage team members on site

• Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards

• Oversee plant, equipment, and material requirements

• Ensure effective communication between stakeholders

• Monitor project progress to meet contractual objectives (time, cost, quality)

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent

• Valid Driver’s Licence

Preferable Qualifications

• HV Regulations (Modules 1–10)

• Relevant Health & Safety Courses for Supervisors

Experience

• Minimum 6 years’ related experience supervising substation construction activities

• Construction and authorised supervisory experience (HV Regulations)

Required Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge

• Eskom Standards and Specifications relating to Substations

• Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Act and Construction Regulations

• SHEQ systems

• Substation-related activities including:

  • Civil and building works

  • Steel assembly and erection

  • Electrical works

  • Cabling and stringing

Skills

• Basic computer literacy

• MS Office Suite proficiency

• Strong leadership and supervisory skills

• Good communication skills

• In-depth knowledge and practical experience in substation construction

• ORHVS certification (advantageous)
