Job Purpose
To lecture allocated modules and support student success by preparing students for assessments, tracking academic progress, identifying and supporting at-risk students, and managing academic administration. The role also supports the Programme Coordinator with academic performance analysis and module evaluation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver lectures in line with module pacers and academic requirements
Engage and prepare students for assessments
Identify and support at-risk students
Manage academic resources and liaise with the Information Centre
Update the Learning Management System and provide student feedback
Monitor student engagement and assessment submissions with appropriate escalation
Develop assessments in collaboration with the Central Academic Team
Attend and participate in academic meetings across faculties
Support Part-Time Lecturers with faculty-related requirements
Analyse and review student module results
Assist the Programme Coordinator with academic tracking and results analysis
Develop teaching and learning materials aligned with module outcomes
Assist with student registration and orientation
Conduct disciplinary or Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research or
complete required academic professional development interventions annually
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education (Honours) or
Master’s degree in Foundation Phase Teaching
Experience:
2–3 years lecturing or formal tutoring experience
Key Competencies
Knowledge of the South African higher education system and regulatory framework
Strong understanding of teaching and learning theories and interventions
Ability to provide effective student academic support
Competence in using digital academic platforms
Adaptability in a changing academic environment
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong time management and adherence to institutional policies
Working Hours
Classes scheduled between 08:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday
